How to Disconnect or Remove Social Media Channels
Sometimes you need to disconnect a social media channel from Posttely. Learn how to safely remove channels without affecting your social media accounts.
When to Disconnect a Channel
- You no longer use that social media account
- You want to reconnect with different permissions
- The account was compromised
- You're switching to a different account
- You've reached your channel limit
Step-by-Step Disconnection Process
- Navigate to Channels: Go to Channels from the main menu
- Find the Channel: Locate the channel you want to disconnect
- Click Delete: Click the Delete or Disconnect button
- Confirm: Confirm that you want to disconnect the channel
- Verification: Channel is removed from your Posttely account
What Happens When You Disconnect?
- Posttely Access: Posttely loses access to the channel
- Scheduled Posts: Scheduled posts for that channel are cancelled
- Social Media Account: Your actual social media account is NOT affected
- Historical Data: Past posts remain in Posttely's history
- Reconnection: You can reconnect anytime
Before Disconnecting
- Review any scheduled posts for that channel
- Cancel or reschedule important posts
- Download any data you need
- Note the channel details for reconnection
Reconnecting a Channel
- Go to Channels → Add Channel
- Select the platform
- Follow the connection process
- Grant necessary permissions
- Channel is reconnected
Important Notes
- Disconnecting does NOT delete your social media account
- Your social media account remains active
- You can reconnect anytime
- Scheduled posts are cancelled when disconnected
- Historical posts remain in Posttely
Troubleshooting
If you have issues disconnecting:
- Ensure you have permission to manage the channel
- Check if there are pending scheduled posts
- Try refreshing the page
