How to Disconnect or Remove Social Media Channels

Sometimes you need to disconnect a social media channel from Posttely. Learn how to safely remove channels without affecting your social media accounts.

When to Disconnect a Channel

  • You no longer use that social media account

  • You want to reconnect with different permissions

  • The account was compromised

  • You're switching to a different account

  • You've reached your channel limit

Step-by-Step Disconnection Process

  1. Navigate to Channels: Go to Channels from the main menu

  2. Find the Channel: Locate the channel you want to disconnect

  3. Click Delete: Click the Delete or Disconnect button

  4. Confirm: Confirm that you want to disconnect the channel

  5. Verification: Channel is removed from your Posttely account

What Happens When You Disconnect?

  • Posttely Access: Posttely loses access to the channel

  • Scheduled Posts: Scheduled posts for that channel are cancelled

  • Social Media Account: Your actual social media account is NOT affected

  • Historical Data: Past posts remain in Posttely's history

  • Reconnection: You can reconnect anytime

Before Disconnecting

  • Review any scheduled posts for that channel

  • Cancel or reschedule important posts

  • Download any data you need

  • Note the channel details for reconnection

Reconnecting a Channel

  1. Go to Channels → Add Channel

  2. Select the platform

  3. Follow the connection process

  4. Grant necessary permissions

  5. Channel is reconnected

Important Notes

  • Disconnecting does NOT delete your social media account

  • Your social media account remains active

  • You can reconnect anytime

  • Scheduled posts are cancelled when disconnected

  • Historical posts remain in Posttely

Troubleshooting

If you have issues disconnecting:

  • Ensure you have permission to manage the channel

  • Check if there are pending scheduled posts

  • Try refreshing the page

  • Contact support at help@posttely.com if problems persist
