In a promising development for WhatsApp users, the widely used instant messaging platform, now under the Meta umbrella, is reportedly launching a new feature that allows scheduling calls within group chats. This feature aims to facilitate efficient planning and automatic notifications to all participants about upcoming group calls.

This new functionality, which was previously in the development phase, seems to have taken a step forward with the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.17.7 update, available on the Google Play Store. This update enables selected beta testers to experiment with the group call scheduling capability, according to reports from WABetaInfo, a platform dedicated to tracking WhatsApp updates.

To utilize this feature, users need to simply tap the call button and check if the scheduling option is available for their accounts. They can then designate the call's subject and specify the desired date for the scheduled call. Furthermore, users can decide between a video or voice call for the group.

Once a group call is scheduled, an event will be automatically generated within the group chat. Additionally, participants who have opted to join the call will receive a notification 15 minutes prior to the scheduled call commencement.

This scheduling feature is poised to offer several noteworthy advantages. It streamlines the planning and coordination of group discussions by eliminating the need for numerous messages to agree on a suitable time. Instead, participants can conveniently decide on a mutually agreeable time slot, enhancing overall convenience. Moreover, this approach ensures the availability of all participants, minimizing the chances of missed or delayed calls.

The option to schedule group calls within chats is currently accessible to select fortunate beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android updates. However, the rollout is expected to expand to a broader user base over the upcoming weeks, promising increased convenience and efficiency in group communication.
